Merry Christmas baby!

Tis' the season to be grindin'! I had a great show on Saturday night at the Marriott Christmas Party (wasn't I so cute?!?) I was up til 3 in the morning the night before making favors for the show, not upset though, noone will do it for me like I'll do it for me....signed myself to myself Tanzasmusic baby! For that reason, I'm transitioning, I'm underconstruction, some things I thought were solid are now shaky. I'll call it renovation, yeah i'm renovating....I wonder what will be thrown away...all before the New Year. Anywho, I'm getting ready for Tally and Miami, oh how I miss Florida! Be Safe you guys, enjoy your families (even if they are crazy), and have a very Merry Christmas! (you too haters!) XOXO

I am [not] my name...

So the Princess has been a lil ill, feeling better but not my best, still can't record but, all is well. I'm the process of changing my name, and in doing my research I've found some really interesting things that have left me feeling empowered and blessed! With the changing of my name, I can assist in ending subconscious psychological chains from slavery from my children and family. My legacy and estate will be built on truth, loyalty, wisdom and knowledge. Some people think it's deep, when it's actually really simple; the man who rapped our mothers, hung our brothers, stole life and prosperity from our families, gave us his last name to show his ownership over us. My old name belongs to a heartless people, that I don't want taking the credit for all the beautiful things I hope to accomplish in this life, my people deserve to be credited. I'm so excited about my name change, so happy to let this slave name go! My mom is too and I encourage all in my position to do so. Help me out yall! Any suggestions?

[sigh]

After all my hard work and success in NY...somebody stole my camera out of my car...all my Universal/BET footage gone bye bye! Truthfully, they can have the camera just give me my memory card! [not to mention I got a ticket coming back to the A] It feels like the sky is falling, but God you are so good any how! What makes me feel better is that whenever things start to go wrong, that means your blessing is on the way! God, let your will be done in my life...AMEN!

'Nothin' but Love'

Afeni Shakur, mother of Tupac Shakur, is donating his writings include rough drafts of lyrics, poems to a copy of his contract for research to the Robert W. Woodruff Library at Atlanta University Center. Over 150 items will be placed in the archives, where The Martin Luther King Jr. Collection is as well, and students can view them starting Fall 2010. Mama Shakur says “We need to read history from the source, it gives people the opportunity to judge him objectively. What we want to do is educate.” Thank you Mama Shakur for sharing your son with us, once again.

Daddy's Song

Sometimes I wonder why God has kept the man who loves me most in this world out of my life. Due to circumstances in life my father has always been away. Only a few times in my life he was there but in those few years he implanted love in me for a life time. Even in my father's absence I never felt like a fatherless child. Never felt like my mother was a single women. I always could feel him with me. Only until recently I realized all the things it could have been, all the times I missed him, and wanted him to be there. But what hurts the most is knowing he wants to be there and cant. Daddy one day soon we will sit and eat together and I will look into your eyes and tell you how much I missed you and love you. I will lay in your chest and hear your heart beat the same blood that beats through mine.....Love is Love

She's the 1

With a new album dropping 9/29, Ms. MJB has proved yet again that she is still the one! YES! I love her! The queen of R & B soul is truly an inspiration to me. Her passion and dedication to her craft has given be something to look forward and has set a standard for my career. Her style is always on point, she is a fashionista on the low, a lot of people don't give her credit but I've never seen her (well recently) looking anything less than her best. She has transformed herself completely! I LOVE IT! MS. MARY BAY-BEE!

More than just a pretty face...

Charity and helping others is very important to me. Giving back to others and enriching someone else's life is what I believe God called us all to do. With so much going on today, from Wall Street to the side streets of Tallahassee, it is imperative that we all do our part by getting involved in our communities. I recently learned of the Celebrity Charity Collalition founded by Maggy Ducena-Wright, who has brought together over 43 celebrity charities into one coalition. Some of which include: Alonso Mourning of Alonzo Mourning Charities, Emmit Smith of Pat and Emmit Smith Charities, Carmelo Anthony of Holding Our Own Destiny Charities, Lebron James of the James Family Foundation and Michael Jordan of the Jordan Institute for Families.

A former Miami-Dade branch NAACP Education Chairperson, Mrs. Wright is well known for her charitable works and has inspired me to continue by efforts to give back in any way that I can and I would love the opportunity to work with her.

[another] TALLAHASSEE HERO!

One thing that I have learned about life is that however strong you are in your weakest hour, that is your real strength! It's been nothing but work! work! work! and it feels like its taking forever to happen! The ups & downs, the late nights, the messed up sound, the wrong clothes, the small shoe...but you gotta love it! Thank you to everyone that supports me and listens to my music, it is a true reflection of who I am as a person. I hate when ppl try to suffocate my free spirit. Forget society and its rules. I'm me and I'm going to be me. I know time & place personally. This is my dream and I'm enjoying watching it every bit of it become true! Stay with me people...you won't be disappointed!

He gon run this town!

So, after having Lil Mama make a special appearance during his set and having little brother Kanye swiftly take Taylor's shine, Jay-Z opted to have a night out with Ms. Rihanna while his politically correct wife went out alone. Jay and Ri Ri were seen at two post VMA parties while the Queen rolled solo. WTF??!!?? Apparently, he was upset that she apologized to Taylor, siding with Kanye and even left as well when Kanye was escorted out. Again, WTF!! I CANNOT believe him!!! Of all the Kanye backlash, including racist remarks, this is just as disturbing. Bey, get "Sasha Fierce" and get that young man together!

Princess pick of the week!

sssooo...this goes without saying but, if I had $4,025 to spend on a bag it would without a doubt be this one! A 3-in-1 Louis bag!! -FLATLINE- I'm pretty sure Gucci, Coach, & others will be introducing their versions soon, and I won't be surprised if at least 1 of the 3 looks of this bag shows up on Canal Street.

If you are reading this and can afford this bag, please go buy it! If not, you can bagborrowsteal.com it for about 2 months, and take a picture each time you wear it. Sure, people will talk bad about you, but hey, at least you got three good Twitpics [=/]

HI HATER!

"My President is black!" and his speech was GOOD! Despite the controversy surrounding President Obama's address to the nation's youth yesterday, President Obama delivered an encouraging message, explaining to them that:
"This isn't just important for your own life and your own future. What you make of your education will decide nothing less than the future of this country. What you're learning in school today will determine whether we as a nation can meet our greatest challenges in the future" (CNN.COM).

I don't know if I missed something or if I was listening too hard, however, I didn't get the "socialist undertone" and hidden political agenda that some conservative parents shielded their school aged children from. Some even signed their children out of school early, so to miss the 20 minute speech (yes, an entire school days work to avoid a 20 minute speech...GREATNESS!) What I did hear though, was a well-spoken and meaningful note to students across the states, urging them to be their best and achieve all their goals. Inspiring.

A President has not spoken to the students of America in 18 years, there have been messages addressed to the parents and teachers, however, none to those who are effected the most. The last President wasn't exactly the shining of example of "studious" and after years of disappointment, finally, a man, a black man, that our nation's youth can look up to and aspire to be like. President Obama is to revered and respected for the greatness that he is. Like radio personality Michael Baisden said oh so perfectly, "If you don't like America's leadership, then YOU leave!" BYE HATER!

Mr. & Mrs. "Yeah"

How cute!! According to TMZ.com, R &B sweetheart Christina Millan & Terius "The Dream" Nash tied the knot last week in Las Vegas at the ever popular Litte White Wedding Chapel. The lovely pair, all decked out in their "something borrowed" $100 tux and $200 wedding dress, were married last Friday at 12:00am exactly according to the marriage license.

The Dream, who is reportedly retiring as a singer, was appointed Vice President of Island Def Jam late last month. Congrats are definetely in order; on a new career and a beautiful wife as well. Despite the "Stu & Jade" (The Hangover) style wedding...I wish this lovely pair nothing but the best!

You can call her...

TANZA. Teezy Baby. or as her NEW single boasts "Ms. Nobody." FLA's Princess possesses a special talent. She can craft melodies from nothing, lyrics from nowhere, and blend them perfectly to create a musical masterpiece. This is why she is more than an artist, she is a true artist.

What is the difference between an artist and an artiste? An artist is a cliché. It seems as though everyone who appears on radio, video, and other mainstream outlets considers themselves to be artists. But, an artiste is one who has the skill to make entertainment an art form. What is TANZA’s secret? “I communicate with people from all walks of life. I take on their emotions and relay it into my music,” TANZA explains.

“I have created my own publishing company, New New Publishing because I want wealth and longevity for not only myself but also my family.” In fact, TANZA credits her mother for making “sure I was on track. She made me go to college so I can pursue any dream I wanted. Since I graduated from Florida A&M University, it is a true blessing because it adds another dimension to my music.” TANZA has opened for such acts as Young Jeezy, T.I. and Keyshia Cole. The passionate pursuit of her dream is what prompted her decision to partner with ZooBoyz Entertainment for production and management. “I sometimes work 18 hour days in my family’s cleaning business, so I don’t have a lot of time for foolishness.

With the help and direction ZooBoyz Entertainment along with my manager Zak, I can just focus on my music without many of the pressures of being a one-woman show.” But, when TANZA puts on a show, it is as vibrant as Picasso with a brush! “Although I haven’t experienced it on the scale I want yet, when I look out and see people singing my songs, I am so honored. It’s an awesome feeling!”

TANZA works hard but understands that, “life is about balance.” So, TANZA escapes by playing tennis, painting, watching football, drawing, or hanging out with her close friends because “friendship and loyalty are difficult things to come by.” Meanwhile, TANZA aches to travel the world to places such as Italy, Japan, Senegal, and Ghana among other places. “I see these exotic places on the travel channel and I want to experience them for myself and absorb the vibe so I can put it in my music.”

At the end of the day, TANZA’s art is for everyone while her alias, Teezy Baby is for the ladies with a bit of an edge. Either way, TANZA artistic duality is displayed for a singular purpose, “my goal with my music is to be progressive, inspire, and push people to be better.” One thing is for sure, no matter the canvas, TANZA’s music is a brilliant auditory respite from the mundane. As only a true artiste can provide.
